Hottie of the Day: Rod Serling (Sexiest Man NOT Alive!) Writer of The Twilight Zone

Rod Serling's Night Gallery is referenced in t...Image via Wikipedia
Check him out then watch the Twilight Zone (the original series) on Netflix Instant Play. He wrote most of 'em and narrates all of 'em (cigarette in hand!). Must've been quite racy for the time. And by far the most sultry (attractive in a way that suggests a passionate nature!) voice ever recorded!

Mmm. Before my time... but still SEXY. A Sci-Fi Fantasy Genius. Had I lived in his lifetime, I woulda been a groupie.

P.S. I WAS a groupie. But none of 'em ever got famous. ; )

Suggested Movie Marathons / Movie Marathon Ideas

Angelina Jolie at the premiere of Alexander in...Image via Wikipedia
Angelina Jolie
1. The Alien series

2. The Predator series

3. The original Star Trek series
(Season One, Ep.10 is my favorite... It was your Evil Twin, you dumb arse! There's two of you, DUH!... and the horned-dog - I WANT ONE! And the scratches move from the left side of the face to the right?) LOL.

It was actually more sophisticated than I expected for 1966. Lot's o fun to be had. The whole Evil Twin idea probably spawned a generation of Soap Opera copy-cats. In fact, right at this moment, Erica on All My Children has an Evil Twin, Jane. Another chuckle.

And Season 1, Ep. 8: A PENIS in his hands! Do they even know what they do?! And the phallic stalagmites, oh my. LOL

ANYWAY...
4. The original Twilight Zone series

5. Clint Eastwood movies

6. The Star Wars series (old and new)

7.  007 Movies: "Bond. James Bond."

8. The Outer Limits series

9. Kevin Bacon movies

10. Matt Damon movies

11. Angelina Jolie movies

12. Adam Sandler movies

13. Harry Potter movies

14. StarGate series

15. Halloween series

16. Zombie movie marathon

17. Vampire movie marathon

18. Martial Arts Movies... Jet Li, Bruce Lee

19. Musashi Miyamoto

20. Spielberg movies

Movie Reviews: "Monsters" 2010 (Non-animated) Horror Sci Fi Alien

War of the Worlds (2005 film)Image via Wikipedia

Wow! I can hardly believe I found this under Sci Fi/Horror (on Netflix's Instant Play section).

Amazing cinematography. Exquisite creative scenery. Very believable.

The female lead, Whitney Able, is a young Cameron Diaz. Find images here:

And her co-star, Scoot McNairy, reminded us of Andy on WEEDS.

The pre-scenes show the possibilities. But then it moves so slowly, with such intensity, that you're still on the edge of your seat. My hat's off to Gareth Edwards (both writer and director).  There are continual scapes of destruction, aftermath that forebodes, that makes you wonder... where? when?

A subtle romance that links to a stunning end. Nicely done.

The creatures? Well... let's just say that it's a better remake of H.G. Wells "War of the Worlds", better than Spielberg's 2005 creation with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.

Best Line: "I feel like... if anyone were here, we'd smell 'em."

More character study than horror but still... my favorite Sci Fi/Horror so far this year.

Movie Reviews: "Exam" Sci Fi Suspense Drama Cerebral

The Getty of Science FictionImage by Rennett Stowe via Flickr
First of all, just to get started... let me express my personal opinion that men should NOT wear shiny pointy shoes EVER... not even gay men (the first scene - watch for it).

This is a weird little movie but kinda fun.

I adore cerebral Sci Fi's and this one did not disappoint. At first I thought, I know this is going to be so predictable.

The group WAS a lesson in stereo-typing, after all:
1. The handsome blond male narcissist (my husband has coined a new term: ARSE-cissist. It be-suits so many more of us).
2. A man so depressed that they nickname him "Death" (which is a glorious twist).
3. A black man throws the first punch.
4. The pretty blond girl is the one flirted with.
5. The brunette with the glasses is a scientist.
6. The persian looking man is a terrorist?! Hated that part. Just not right.
7. The asian is the first with an answer.
8. The kind woman is deceived.

Some good lines:
"Is this the ultimate Mind Fk or what?!"
"I will tolerate anyone but the intolerant"
"At their level, money ceases to be the prime motivator. It's risk they live for."

I most definitely differ with Peter Hall, though (his blog is where I found this movie as one of the Best of 2010). I think the ending was surprising and SUPERB. Worth all the agony of the one-room scene (which Peter finds enjoyable, by the way). Very odd.

See Peter's reviews at :
http://blog.moviefone.com/

Note: As I said, I found this in Peter's Best Movies of 2010, yet in another article it was listed as a 2009 movie and Netflix reports it as made in 2008??? Anybody know the real deal?

Movie Reviews: The Warlock (Sci Fi, Super Natural, Horror)

Warlock: The ArmageddonImage via Wikipedia
Movie Review: The Warlock, 1989

I Loooove this movie! How did I ever miss it? You should know by now that I love Silly Sci Fi and Silly Horror flicks.

This one is a classic 80's horror film. So nicely done that after more than 20 years it still holds its own.

If you don't mind Satanic/Black Magic Horror you'll enjoy it immensely as I did.

Lori Singer is great. She reminds me of the early Daryl Hannah in Blade Runner... a delightful Vatta (Ayerveda for Hollywood's favorite type: tall and thin).

Best Line: "Let your attention lie before you not beside you."

P.S. I abhor the FACT that many innocents died in the name of Witchcraft but, for modern day stress relief, this movie is kinda fun.
