Kyokushinkai KARATE Full-Contact Sparring KNOCK OUTS!! KO'S video AWESOME!!

I've been knocked out twice in my career (see About Me):
Once with a spinning wheel kick (straight leg), his heel to my kidney (as in Capoeira and Wado-Ryu). And again with a double leg one-armed sweep (my knees were up to his shoulders when he dropped me) to the back of my head on our cement floor.

How's that for "Old School"? Yup, back in the 70's there were no fancy mats or even hard wood... we trained on cement!

An Exercise to Strengthen your Cross Punch

Hey, I just found a great new TV Show called "Body Fuel". It's on the Canadian Network ION (here in Utah that's channel 16.3).

But it's awesome: Healthy workout-based recipes and an exercise of the day. Online, I'm afraid the workout is all you can get on video. But here's one that's new to me and is a great technique to strengthen your CROSS PUNCH or, in Karate, we call it the REVERSE PUNCH.

Cat Fight?

Warning: This film does contain some female nu---y. But nothing really lude... that is if you don't mind seeing it in the ring. Hmm. Maybe it is a little... Anyway, I liked it.

Thought it was clever and fun. And the women were such strong female leads that you don't feel that they are being exploited in any way.

The acting was superb and it wasn't quite as "B" as I had expected. Might have taken itself a little too seriously, though.

Still, I recommend it if you like tough girls and fight scenes (and a little family drama). I think that if it were redone as a comedy it could be quite memorable. As it is, it's just IE for me.

Something that I found especially funny about this video is that the word "OS" is used extensively in the Japanese martial arts and the phrase:

Arigatou gozaimashita

can be loosely translated to mean, "Oh, thank you so very much, Sir! This kind of thing does not happen to me everyday."
