Martial Arts Women: Dawn Stern "Starhunter 2300" Series Sci Fi

You know I love Sci Fi. Here's my hottest new find in Sci Fi WOMEN: Dawn Stern of the
Canadian Sci Fi series: StarHunter 2300:

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0827673/

Wow! I'm still  trying to find some of her hot fight scenes from the series on YouTube. There's an excellent one in Ep. 3. Until I do, you'll have to settle for this silly "gymnastics" women vs. man short film.

Movie Reviews: "Monsters" 2010 (Non-animated) Horror Sci Fi Alien

War of the Worlds (2005 film)Image via Wikipedia

Wow! I can hardly believe I found this under Sci Fi/Horror (on Netflix's Instant Play section).

Amazing cinematography. Exquisite creative scenery. Very believable.

The female lead, Whitney Able, is a young Cameron Diaz. Find images here:

And her co-star, Scoot McNairy, reminded us of Andy on WEEDS.

The pre-scenes show the possibilities. But then it moves so slowly, with such intensity, that you're still on the edge of your seat. My hat's off to Gareth Edwards (both writer and director).  There are continual scapes of destruction, aftermath that forebodes, that makes you wonder... where? when?

A subtle romance that links to a stunning end. Nicely done.

The creatures? Well... let's just say that it's a better remake of H.G. Wells "War of the Worlds", better than Spielberg's 2005 creation with Tom Cruise and Dakota Fanning.

Best Line: "I feel like... if anyone were here, we'd smell 'em."

More character study than horror but still... my favorite Sci Fi/Horror so far this year.

Movie Reviews: "Aimee and Jaguar" GBLT German Lesbian Drama

Aimée & JaguarImage via Wikipedia
True story. A real tear-jerker. That's EXACTLY why I hate DRAMAS. This one snuck up on me after finding myself on a Netflix page about both Suspense and Forbidden Love.

It's about two women who fall in love during Nazi Germany (one, the wife of a Nazi soldier and the other, a Jewish journalist). I'm half German by the way, actually born there but proud of being one quarter French, as well (I guess, if I think about it, that makes me 3/4 German).

My (step) father was in the American Air Force. My Grandfather, on my mother's side, died as a Nazi soldier, and my husband's GrossMutter or OMA (german for Grandmother was Jewish). I find that so curious and so sad.

One of the women (from this film) is still alive. The other... we can certainly guess what happened to her.

It's a strange strange world. If you enjoy the epic Historical Dramas, tales of war, and sad sad love stories, this one's your cup of tea. Plenty of tears and lots of, what I call, decent nudity too.

Note: Sub-titles.

The Low Carb "Long Beach" Diet Cocktail Low Calorie Low Fat Alcoholic Beverage

Crude Oil ColaImage by AZRainman via Flickr
I Loooove  this drink! It's one of my favorites. It's like a Long Island Ice Tea but with Cranberry Juice; sometimes called a "Long Beach".

I use:
1/3rd each Vodka, Rum, and Gin
(Lately I've been enjoying 1 shot drinks. That way I can drink more drinks and enjoy drinking for a longer time, making the "Buzz" last a bit... before passing out. LOL)
1/3rd shot R.W. Knudsen's (It's hard to type when you're already buzzed - I just finished my taxes - yay! So that deserved some celebration  ; )
(as I was saying: 1/3rd shot) Lemon Ginger Echinacea
1/3rd shot All Natural Simply Limeade
1 shot Diet Low Carb Cranberry Juice (Kroger's or Ocean Spray works pretty well. Look for less than 10 carbs per 8 oz. serving)
and then 3 shots Cola (I like Diet Caffeine Free)
and lots of ice

Nummmmm! Goes down so easy and you can't taste the liquor.

Of course, if you're not on a diet you can always use the regular stuff. But, hey, sugar is really bad for you. That's it, I'm off my soap box. Do WETHYW. Life is about choices after all.

Ohhhh, the relief of taxes done. It kinda sucks to have your own business. So much more complex. Hey, maybe with my new job, I'll be a corporate clone now ( when ORGANIC becomes the MACHINE). Wouldn't that just be so much more easier. NO.
