Best (Cerebral) Horror Movies / Movie Review: Absentia, 2011

Absentia
2011, Rated R, 1hr 31m
Rated: 5 out of 5 Stars (Highly Recommended)

Netflix Description:
Seven years after her husband, Daniel, went missing, Tricia is about to have him declared dead. But as she copes with her grief and the reappearance of her annoying sister, Tricia begins to suspect a sinister force is behind Daniel's disappearance.

My Review:
WOW! Way better than expected. I'm not exactly sure what it was (the rhythm, the story-line, the NORMAL-sized characters) but this movie really MOVED ME! Literally!! There was one scene (Oh, so RARE - where I actually SCREAMED OUT LOUD and jumped out of my seat)... My hubby came running. "What's wrong?!" Oh, just the BEST little understated Horror Movie I've seen in a while. Then I laughed at the awesomeness of the adrenaline rush. Yup. I just loved it. Very indie AND very GOOD. Highly recommended if you can handle the subtle cerebral pace. I'd been putting this one off... DON'T!

Yes, I hate to admit it but Netflix's first series "Hemlock
Grove is effen AWESOME!!!

It has the best werewolf sequence ever in the history of horror... it's in Episode 2 of the first (of hopefully many more seasons) of "Hemlock Grove".

I've always hated werewolf movies because of the ridiculous makeup and outlandish transformations, but this one sent shivers down my spine.Truly spectacular! Great casting. Great acting, writing, et. al.

I've already watched the first three episodes three times! (Just to catch up on the ingenious details).

WOW. You cannot miss this.

I didn't think NF could pull it off, but they DID! And in a very history resounding way. Good job!

Already looking forward to Season 2.

Vampire Movie Reviews: Vampire Diary, 2007

Vampire Diary

Vampire Diary (the movie), 2007

Rating: 5 Stars

LOOOOVED IT!!! If you enjoy LESBIAN VAMPIRE MOVIES, you’ll really appreciate this one. I’m usually not a big fan of the “Blair Witch Hunt/Video Tape” category, but this one actually pulls it off. The script is FRESH and NEW… in a genre that’s old and tired. I was very impressed. For a low budget vampire flick, it really gave me a good two hours (or so) of rich entertainment. It does not disappoint. Go for it. It’s definitely worth your time.

 Netflix Description:
"Trolling London's Goth clubs to chronicle a subculture of wannabe vampires, filmmaker Holly meets and falls for smoldering lesbian Vicki, a real vampire. Despite Holly's suspicions about her new love, she can't resist Vicki's seductive netherworld."
